Dividends will continue to motivate Bulgarian retail investors
Over BGN 150 mln. was distributed as dividends to investors on the Bulgarian Stock Exchange in 2016. Bulgarian equities rallying also in 2017
Bulgarian equities wrapped up 2016 on the upside in the range of 7% to 73% growth. Main index SOFIX added 28% for 2016 being ranked third in Europe after Russian and Belgian indices.
Last week SOFIX reached 8.4 year high closing at 624.91 on March 10, 2017.
Tatyana Puncheva-Vasileva, Head of Research at ELANA Trading, explains SOFIX rally is based on fundamentals. “Corporate result were good with industrials being key contributors to the index growth together with financial and pharma stocks”, she said. “Fundamentals were improving somewhat faster than valuations. Currently, even with the 40%+ rise, most blue chip stocks continue to trade at attractive multiples compared to peer companies and markets”, Vasileva noted.
The expert forecasts a good year for SOFIX: “SOFIX advancing 15-20% in 2017 looks achievable”.
