BGREIT up 0.89% YTD vs sliding leading CEE indexes
The BGREIT index that tracks the biggest REITs on the Bulgarian stock market started 2016 on the positive side. The index is up 0.89% YTD in January as gaining momentum real estate market has added to the market performance of key REITs as Bulgarian Real Estate Fund (5BU BU). The latter has the biggest weight in the index and is up 9% YTD.
Indices in Central and Easter Europe
Thus, BGREIT is among the top performing indexes in Central and Easter Europe whose leading benchmarks have been hit by the global financial markets 2016 distress. The worst performing benchmark so far in the region as the Romanian BET (-12% YTD) and the Polish WIG20 (-8%) with the latter affected also by the new political turbulences within Poland. Slovenian and Croatian benchmarks add to the top three performance YTD, but are still losing value, -4.47% YTD and – 6.75% YTD, respectively.
